By my estimates they have a 99.9% fail rate for the resolutioner and a 100% win rate for the gym establishments who offer teaser rates with annual contracts knowing full well what the drop off numbers will be. It’s hard however to fault the gyms or any business for cashing in on such an obvious gravy train. If a resolutioner takes on a life of health and wellness however the relationship is a win-win and they get their moneys worth. In this scenario the resolutioner is not a resolutioner at all but someone who has become sufficiently inspired to make a positive life change.
When it comes to setting a fitness, health and wellness goal my recommendation is to do the following.
1.Ensure you are ready to make real changes and sacrifices change is serious, frighting and enormously rewarding.
2.Ensure you know why you want it. This is most important thing if your “Why” is not in line with your heart you won’t follow thru.
3.Ensure it’s at least remotely attainable and within reason. Unreasonable goals cause discouragement however this is no invitation to slack.
4.Commit to it. Break it up into small pieces and begin. An old teacher used to tell us the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.
5.Review and hold yourself accountable daily, weekly and monthly chart progress and have a completion date.
Avoid short cuts that may undermine your progress. Learn to enjoy the process and your results will come with more fulfillment. If it’s too good to be true it often is. I saw large people in Walmart during Christmas buying this product off the shelf. Let me be clear, optimal health cannot be bought and consumed in a pill. Your health and wellness is dependent on rest, play, fitness, nutrition and doing work that fulfills you.
Happy New Years, And if you committed to getting healthier this year, be strong, committed and keep a strategic attack plan to ensure your in that .01% win ratio.
